About Deztinee

She is an young filmmaker and Author who writes stories for inner city kids. Growing up, Deztinee loved reading, especially urban novels that related to what she saw on a daily basis. Raised in Sunnyside, Houston Texas, Deztinee was no stranger to the fast life that tore on the lives of the people within her community. Despite the struggles, danger and chaos that surrounded her, Deztinee was drawn more to the vibrant energy of her community. Unlike what the media portrays as ghetto and ratchet, Deztinee saw life when looking at the colorful graffiti on the walls of abandoned buildings. She liked how they seemed to tell a story, and the way the flickering streetlights illuminated the gritty sidewalks. More importantly, Deztinee loved the people of her community and their unique stories that shapped them into the person that they were. As her love for reading grew throughout her life, Deztinee found a love for something similar. Writing. Rather it was essays, short stories, poems or raps, she wrote it all. With a passion for storytelling, literature and the love of the inner city, Deztinee started writing books for teens and young adults who could relate to not just her stories but of the lives from the people around her. She began to write her first novel An Eye For An Eye at 16 and officially published at 17 years old. With a lot more projects in the works, Deztinee hopes to spread awareness of life in the urban environment, share black and brown stories, unity, peace love and joy through her novels and films.
